Description
Cloch Lighthouse in a Storm is a powerful and atmospheric example of Raymond Murray art, depicting the well-known lighthouse on the Firth of Clyde as waves rise, winds whip across the shoreline, and the sky darkens into sweeping layers of deep blue. This Cloch Lighthouse storm print captures the drama of the Scottish coast with bold palette-knife strokes and Murray’s unmistakable sense of movement.
At the centre stands the iconic lighthouse, its white tower and stepped gables illuminated against the stormy sky. The buildings around it lean subtly into the wind, lending the composition a sense of tension and resilience. Meanwhile, a red-hulled boat battles the churning waves in the foreground, its angled mast and bright colours energising the whole scene. The combination of abstraction and recognisable form makes this a standout Scottish coastal painting filled with emotional impact.
Murray’s brushwork is particularly expressive here: sweeping blues create the sensation of wind and sea, while flashes of crimson and orange burst from the landscape. These vibrant accents give the work the unmistakable feel of colourful maritime artwork, even in the midst of the storm. The result is a dynamic interpretation of a Clyde landmark that feels alive and full of motion.
Printed as a premium giclée print, every layered tone and textured stroke is faithfully reproduced, preserving the drama and richness of the original painting. This piece suits a wide range of interiors — from modern apartments to coastal-inspired homes — and appeals to anyone who appreciates the expressive side of Scottish art. Whether you know the area well or simply enjoy vivid seascapes, this Cloch Lighthouse storm print offers a bold, captivating focal point.
As with much Raymond Murray art, the piece blends the natural power of the coastline with imaginative colour and rhythm. It works beautifully alongside other Scottish coastal paintings or colourful maritime artwork, creating a cohesive and uplifting display.
