At the Sugar Quay – Colourful Greenock Harbour Giclée Print (A003)

Price range: £18.00 through £48.00

Description

At the Sugar Quay is a striking and atmospheric example of Raymond Murray art, capturing the unmistakable vibrancy of James Watt Dock in Greenock. This Sugar Quay Greenock print brings Murray’s famous palette-knife textures and geometric strokes to life, transforming the industrial harbour into a vivid, modern celebration of colour and movement.

In this Scottish harbour painting, the red hulls of clustered boats dominate the foreground, their reflections glowing across the water in bold crimson tones. Beyond them, Murray layers deep blues, emerald greens, and flashes of gold to reimagine the dockside buildings and machinery. Even the iconic cranes of James Watt Dock appear softened and rhythmic, shaped by the artist’s fluid approach to light and form.

The scene glows with a surreal luminescence — shafts of bright green and turquoise streak across the sky, infusing the composition with energy. This modernist interpretation turns a familiar working harbour into a dramatic, uplifting landscape. As always with Raymond Murray art, the balance of abstraction and recognisable detail allows the viewer to feel the real location while experiencing it through a more expressive lens.

Printed as a premium giclée print, every brush mark, palette-knife ridge, and tonal shift is reproduced with exceptional clarity. This colourful coastal artwork is ideal for anyone who loves Scotland’s maritime heritage portrayed with contemporary flair. Whether displayed in a living space, hallway, or office, it makes a bold visual statement.

This Sugar Quay Greenock print is perfect for collectors seeking a fresh, modern take on west-coast Scotland. As both a Scottish harbour painting and a colourful coastal artwork, it offers atmosphere, depth, and unmistakable character — a rich tribute to the life and history of James Watt Dock.
