Description
Cloch Lighthouse is one of the most serene and evocative examples of Raymond Murray art, transforming this well-known landmark on the Firth of Clyde into a radiant vision of colour and atmosphere. This Cloch Lighthouse print captures the elegance of the 18th-century lighthouse, set against an extraordinary sky of warm pinks, soft oranges, and sweeping golds. The result is a scene filled with calm, light, and expressive movement.
The lighthouse stands proud at the centre of the composition, its crisp white walls and stepped gables glowing beneath the dramatic sky. Around it, Murray introduces delicate boats drifting across the water, including a striking red sail that adds rhythm and contrast. These elements combine to create a Scottish coastal painting that feels both peaceful and dynamic — a celebration of a much-loved Clyde landmark.
Murray’s recognisable palette-knife technique softens the landscape while amplifying the intensity of the colours. The surrounding hills dissolve into warm, misty shapes, while the water reflects the sky in soft ribbons of light. This expressive approach gives the work a cinematic warmth, making it a standout example of colourful lighthouse artwork with contemporary flair.
Reproduced as a premium giclée print, every subtle blend and bold stroke is faithfully captured. The artwork brings harmony and brightness to any interior, making it perfect for hallways, living rooms, or coastal-themed spaces. Whether you know the Firth of Clyde intimately or simply love vivid maritime scenes, this Cloch Lighthouse print offers both beauty and atmosphere in equal measure.
As with many pieces of Raymond Murray art, the painting balances abstraction with recognisable detail, giving it a timeless, versatile charm. As a Scottish coastal painting, it pairs beautifully with other colourful lighthouse artwork in the collection, creating a cohesive and uplifting display.
