The Waverley at Dumbarton Rock – Colourful Clyde Giclée Print (A009)

Price range: £18.00 through £48.00

Description

The Waverley at Dumbarton Rock is a bright and uplifting example of Raymond Murray art, celebrating one of Scotland’s most iconic river landmarks. This Waverley Dumbarton Rock print captures the famous paddle steamer gliding across the River Clyde, set against the dramatic volcanic bulk of Dumbarton Rock — a location steeped in history, industry, and maritime life.

Murray’s expressive palette transforms the landscape into a vibrant tapestry of reds, purples, greens, and golds. The steep cliff faces shimmer with jewel-like tones, while the sky above is alive with sweeping strokes of yellow and warm orange. This dynamic approach turns the view into a lively Scottish coastal painting filled with colour and movement. The Waverley herself sits proudly in the water, her twin funnels standing out against the glowing backdrop, while small yachts and harbour vessels add rhythm and balance to the scene.

The composition is rich with the artist’s signature palette-knife textures. Shapes break into geometric fragments, creating a sense of motion across the entire panorama. These elements make the artwork a standout piece of colourful Clyde artwork, perfect for anyone who loves Scotland’s west-coast heritage or the distinctive energy of river landscapes.

Printed as a premium giclée print, every blend, ridge, and tonal shift is reproduced with exceptional clarity. The lively colours, layered brushwork, and atmospheric light make this a strong focal point in living rooms, hallways, offices, or coastal-themed interiors. Whether you have memories of sailing on the paddle steamer or simply admire expressive landscapes, this Waverley Dumbarton Rock print offers a vivid and captivating perspective.

As with so many pieces of Raymond Murray art, this work blends familiarity with bold creative interpretation. As a Scottish coastal painting, it pairs beautifully with other colourful Clyde artwork in the collection and captures both the romance and history of the river.
